Brookings Car Chase Ends with K9 Officer Hulk

 After a vehicle fled at a high rate of speed into Brookings as the Oregon State Police attempted a stop, the Brookings Police Dispatch received a report on Wednesday afternoon at around 2:30pm, regarding a red Mitsubishi Eclipse driving erratically on Highway 101 northbound toward Brookings. The Oregon State Police attempted to stop the vehicle prior to entering the city limits, but the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed into Brookings before the Brookings Police Department took over the pursuit. The pursuit was terminated on Old County Road due to the reckless driving behavior of the suspect vehicle, however, Officers located the vehicle abandoned nearby a short time later. 

Brookings Police Officer VanZelf and K9 Officer Hulk (courtesy Brookings Police Dept.) Assisted by other Brookings Police Department Officers and Oregon State Police, Brookings Police Officer VanZelf and K9 Officer Hulk deployed and began a search for the driver. K9 Officer Hulk tracked the suspect through the heavily wooded area and located the suspect hiding in the brush. The suspect was arrested without incident and charged with Attempting to Elude a Police Officer and Reckless Driving.
