Brookings Fire Destroys Home Displacing Family

The Brookings Fire & Harbor Fire Departments were dispatched to an active structure fire at 421 Azalea Park Rd. just before 2:00pm Tuesday, January 12th. First responders knocked down the blaze and gained control within approximately 30 minutes.  

The structure suffered severe damage and all of the contents were destroyed either by direct fire impingement or smoke damage. The resident, her daughter and another couple living in an out building that was displaced was put in touch with the Red Cross for assistance.

The Brookings Fire Department was assisted by the Brookings Police Department, Harbor Fire, Cal-Ore Life Fight, Smith River Fire Dept. Brookings Public Works and Cape Ferrelo Fire Dept.

The fire was investigated and appears to be electrical in nature. There were no injuries to the public or fire personnel.
