Brookings Senior Care COVID-19 Cases Grows to 24

COVID-19 cases in Curry County continue to grow after two new cases were initially reported at a Brookings long term memory care facility Thursday afternoon, October 8th.

On Friday afternoon, October 9th, Curry County Public Health announced 5 new cases of COVID-19 after receiving notification through the official medical record system provided by the Oregon Health Authority. Those 5 cases were health care workers from the same Brookings long term memory care facility in Curry County where two patients had positive results Thursday, October 8th.

Late Saturday afternoon, October 10th, the Administration of Sea View Senior Living Memory Care announced that 11 additional COVID-19 cases. These cases are patients of the long term memory care facility and none appear to have any symptoms of Covid-19 according to Sea View Administration.

Curry County Public Health was notified by the Executive Director of Sea View Senior Living Memory Care Monday, October 12th, of 6 additional COVID-19 cases.

These new cases are patients of the long term memory care facility and as of Monday, of the 19 Sea View Senior Living Memory Care patients and 5 health care workers that tested positive for COVID-19, only one had Covid-19 symptoms and is hospitalized. Curry County Public Health is working with the administration of Sea View Memory Care Center to make sure all of these individuals are isolating and monitoring for any symptoms.

Curry County Public Health is conducting contact tracing of these cases and will reach out to anyone suspected of exposure to COVID-19. Curry County Public Health has reached out to first responders who may have to respond for medical issues at that location.

Out of the total verified 55 reported positive cases for Curry County residents, 24 of them, including staff and patients, are from Sea View Senior Living Long Term Memory Care.
