Bruin Boys Stumble Against Cascade Christian

Senior right-hander, Lincoln Rosenberg, #7, went 4 and two third, striking out 3, after allowing 5 hits.

With just weeks remaining in league play and the Bruin boys varsity baseball team coming off of dropping 2 of 3 on the road last week to Lakeside, the Bruin boys started their next series hosting the Cascade Christian Challengers Tuesday afternoon.

Coach Wallin sent right-handed senior Lincoln Rosenberg, #7, to the mound for the Bruin boys to challenge a strong Cascade Christian team to start the afternoon. Rosenberg set the tone early holding the Challengers scoreless in the top of the first. However, the Bruins bats went down in order in their half of the inning leaving the score tied 0-0.

Rosenberg picked up where he left off in the first, sitting down the Challenger offense in order after striking out two. The Bruins boys would get a runner on base and work him around the bags with a sacrifice bunt by senior Sam Brouillard giving the Bruin boys a 1-0 lead going into the third.

Rosenberg continued to frustrate the Challenger offense in the fourth with the help of a defensive double play. But, the Bruin bats couldn’t answer, leaving the Bruins carrying a 1-0 lead into the fifth.

The fifth would be where the Challenger’s took control of the game, putting up five hits in the inning to take a 0-6 lead in the top half of the inning. The Bruins would go down in order in the bottom of the fifth, leaving the Challengers with a comfortable 1-6 lead.

Cascade Christian added on in the top of the sixth, pushing two runs across the plate to extend the the Challengers lead to 1-8 after six.

Again the Challengers would add to their lead in their half of the seventh after moving two runners around the bases. The Bruin bats had no answer and Cascade Christian took the first game in the three game series.

The Bruin boys will be on the road to Medford this Friday for two games to finish the series against the Challengers with first pitch set for 3:00pm.
