Bruin Girls Continue Offensive Onslaught, Crushing Cascade Christian

Senior right-hander, Jordan Crosby, threw a complete game, allowing 1 run off of 5 hits, and striking out 5.

Coming off of 30 point offensive onslaught in their last two games, head coach Tony Baron and the Bruin girls varsity softball team picked up right where they left off against the Cascade Christian Lady Challengers Tuesday afternoon, taking a decisive double-digit win to start the 3 game series.

Jo Pryor, #16, went 3 for 3 from the plate, with two doubles and a triple, scoring 4 runs with 6 RBI.

Senior Jordan Crosby, #11, was in the circle for the Bruin girls, and she established the Bruins girls defensive dominance, striking out the first three batters she faced on twelve pitches, allowing the Bruin girls to start the bottom half of the first inning 0-0. Seniors Hannah James, #5, and #16, Jo Pryor, started things off offensively for Bruin girls, with James singling off the first pitch she faced, and Pryor doubling to left field scoring James on the way to a 5-0 BHHS lead after the first inning.

Kami Koepnick, #14, making the play at 1st, went 2 for 3 from the plate, with 2 runs and 1 RBI off of two doubles.

To start the second inning, the Lady Challengers patiently worked counts to their favor, putting together 3 singles to get a runner across the plate on a Bruin girls error. Freshman Jaci Arlandson #24, started things off for the Bruin girls with a line drive single that set up the top of the order, and James and Pryor worked their way onto the basepaths taking walks, and ultimately adding 3 more runs to the Bruin girls lead.

Maddy Taylor, #22, went 2 for 3 at the plate, with 1 run and 4 RBI.

Now trailing 0-8, the Lady Challengers put two runners on base before the Bruin girls defense shut them down, ending the first half of the third inning with two outs from grounders, and the final out with a pop-up. The relentless Bruin girls offense continued in their half of the third, putting together a walk, a double and a triple put 3 more runs on the board, giving the Bruin girls an 11-1 lead after three innings.

Shortstop Hannah James, #5, went 1 for 1 drawing 3 walks, scoring 4 runs with 1 RBI.

The stingy Bruin girls defense shut down any hopes of a Cascade Christian comeback, shutting down the Lady Challenger offense with two routine infield grounders and a pop-out, to end the top of the fourth. The Bruin girls offense would then step into the batters box and close the deal, stringing together three walks, a single, and a double to add 6 more runs to their total, giving the Bruin girls a 17-1 win in the first game of this three game series.

Catcher Jo Pryor, making the play behind the plate, to end a Cascade Christian rally.

The Bruin girls will have a non-league tune-up game today, Wednesday, against Coquille at 4:30pm, before traveling to Medford to finish the series against Cascade Christian Friday afternoon with a first game pitch at 4:30pm.
