Coming off a low scoring tough loss to an undefeated Lady Bulldogs team in North Bend earlier in the week, Head Coach Tony Baron and the Bruin girls varsity softball team hosted their southern rival Del Norte Lady Warriors who made the trip up the coast for a Thursday afternoon double-header.

Coach Baron sent junior right-hander, #10, Emmy Armstrong out to the circle to start the first game of the afternoon and held the Lady Warriors to just one run in the top of first. The Bruin girls answered in the bottom half of the inning, getting a runner around the bases to match.

It was pitching that was the story in the second inning, as neither team could manage to get a runner around the bases, leaving the game tied a 1-1 after two.

Del Norte added two runs in the top of the third that went unanswered by the Bruin girls in the bottom half of the inning, and then added three more runs in the top of the fourth. The Bruin girls bats had an answer in the bottom half of the fourth, putting up seven runs to take an 8-6 lead going into the fifth.

Both teams tightened up the defense in the fifth, holding eachother scoreless in the inning. Del Norte followed that with another empty inning in top of the sixth while the Bruin girls managed three more runs in their half of the inning on their way to an 11-8 victory to end the first the game.

Emmy Armstrong went back out to start the second game of afternoon and Del Norte batters wasted no time getting runners in scoring position, pushing three runs across the plate in the top half of the first. The Bruin girls would rally in the bottom half of the inning getting a runner of their own across the plate, giving Del Norte a 1-3 advantage after one.

Both teams would find their bats in the second as both teams put crooked numbers on the board with the Bruin girls still trailing 4-7 after two.
In the third, the Lady Warriors found their rhythm, finding home plate six runs in the top of the third to take a 4-13 lead into the fourth.

Senior, Addie Westbrook, #27, shut down the Del Norte offense in the top half of the fourth, and the Bruin girls offense put three runs on the scoreboard close the gap to 7-14, Lady Warriors after four.

Del Norte closed the door in the top of the fifth, extending their lead with five more runs to establish a 7-18 lead to take the second game win after a scoreless Bruin girls bottom half of the inning. Six errors in the game haunted the Bruin girls in the second game as the Bruin girls split the double=header.
The Bruin girls host the Mazama will host the 6-4 Mazama Lady Vikings Saturday afternoon, with the first pitch scheduled for 1:00pm.
