As the 2022/23 season starts to wind down, the newest installment of the Barron’s Home Furnishings ‘Star Student Athlete’ has been selected. Student athletes are selected by their coach’s for their outstanding efforts in the sports arena, as well as their exemplary scholastic and community participation.
As a two sport varsity athlete for the Bruin girls varsity volleyball team and the Bruin girls varsity basketball team for 4 years now, this weeks selection is a great example, excelling in all aspects of the ‘Star Student Athlete’ program showing leadership, competitiveness, and work ethic while balancing a 3.90 GPA while carrying classes in Body Structure and Functions, English IV, American Government, Civics and First Aid/CPR.
Bruin girls varsity volleyball head coach Vanessa Nidiffer, selected senior forward/center Ashlyn Schofield, #8, who has been a great captain and team leader this year on and off the court. She consistently works hard to be the best player she can be, and works to make the other players around her better, while working to improve the intangibles that good athletes possess.
“Ashlyn has been a great captain and team leader this year on the court, amassing more than 142 kills this season and 107 digs and has been a force in both the back and front row.” coach Nidiffer told the Compass.
