Bruin Soccer All-League Honors Selected

3A/2A/1A-SD4 - Most Valuable Player,First Team All-League, senior Striker Jair Valdovinos #13

Bruin boys soccer and head coach Jess Beaman have concluded another outstanding year repeating for the 3rd time as the 3A/2A/1A-SD4 Champions with a perfect record of 14-0 in the regular season.

As the fall high school sports schedule comes to a close, the 3A/2A/1A-SD4 All-League Soccer honors have been selected.

The Wild Coast Compass sat down with head coach Jess Beaman for his thoughts on each of the selections.

3A/2A/1A-SD4 Special District 4 MVP – senior Striker Jair Valdovinos #13
First Team All-League

“Jair was a confident player this year. He played a lot over the summer that really helped him become fearless.” coach Beaman said. “He assumed the leadership role on the team as captain and was able to find the back of the net at all times. Jair will be very successful in college play and I look forward to watching him in the years to come.”

3A/2A/1A-SD4 First Team All-League – sophomore Midfielder Jake Beaman #17

“Jake is a competitor and likes to win. He is all over the field and I am able to put him where help is needed and he is always able to adapt. He is definetly a positive leader on the field.” coach Beaman said.

3A/2A/1A-SD4 First Team All-League – sophomore Midfielder Fabian Villa #10

“Fabian is one of the most focused players that I have coached. He was always ready for game time and has the competitive drive that you can’t teach.” Coach Beaman went on to say “He has foot skills that can only come from a lot of time on the ball, and it has been a pleasure to coach him.”

3A/2A/1A-SD4 First Team All-League – junior Goal Keeper Juan Hernandez #00

“Juan is very talented and has the size to be a college goalkeeper. He puts the time in and despite not having much action this year in league, he was ready to make many needed saves during our tougher games.” Coach Beaman said.

3A/2A/1A-SD4 Second Team All-League – junior Forward Rylan Bruce #5

“Rylan is disciplined and shows up ready to go. He works hard to perfect his play and he is reliable in his position. He is also a super friendly kid” said Coach Beaman.

3A/2A/1A-SD4 Second Team All-League – junior Defender Aden Carpenter #7

Coach Beaman told us that “Aden is committed to soccer and he loves the game. He was needed in defense this year and despite it being a new position, he stepped into it very well and was one of my strongest and fastest defenders.”

3A/2A/1A-SD4 Second Team All-League – sophomore midfielder Dylan Hodge #12

“Dylan is driven. He puts the time in on the pitch and has really perfected his passing skills. He is also persistent and stays with his opponent until he gets the ball.” Coach Beaman said.  

3A/2A/1A-SD4 Second Team All-League – junior Defender Hobbes Howard #14

“Hobbes is a smart player and sees the field well. He anticipates his defensive position and was crucial player on our defensive line.” Coach Beaman told us.

3A/2A/1A-SD4 Honorable Mention All-League/senior defender Harrison Nelson #16

“Harrison can only be described as a beast. He was strong and came away with the ball on most tackles. As a senior captain, he was also an important piece of our defense this year.” said Coach Beaman.

Coach Beaman told us that he thinks “that every one of these kids could have been honored this year. I am very proud of what they achieved this 2019 season as a team.”
