Bruins Track Hosts 4 Teams for the Brookings-Harbor Nor Cal Track Meet

On Tuesday, March 31st, Brookings-Harbor High School hosted the Brookings-Harbor Nor Cal Track meet with five teams, including Arcata, St. Bernard’s Academy, Pacific, and Gold Beach participating.

Under cloudy skies and comfortable temperatures, four schools made the trip to the coast with the Bruin boys finishing 3rd overall and the girls finishing in second overall after 17 events were completed.

Brookings senior, Oceana Powers-Schmitz. finishing 1st in the 100m hurdles with a personal best time of 18:36, also finished 3rd in the Pole Vault clearing 7′-0″, 7th in the 800m with a time of 3:06.99

Sophomore Reyna Harris, on her way to 5th place in the Long Jump, with a jump of 13′-0″, also finished 5th in the Pole Vault with a vault of 6′-6″.

Senior, Alex Justman, finished 2nd in the 110m Hurdles, in a time of 19.00. Justman also finished 9th in the 300m Hurdles in 53.12 and also placed 6th in the 32′-3.5″.
Senior Johanna Larson, on her way to finishing 1st in the 400m in 1:03.44, also finished 2nd in the High Jump, jumping 4′-4″.

Sophomore, Ella Christensen, finishing 2nd in the High Jump clearing 4′-4″. Christensen also finished 2nd in the 200m with a personal best time of 28.84, and 6th in the 100m with a time of 14.04.
Sophomore Evan York, out of the blocks on his way to 7th place in the 100m with a personal best time of 12.42. York also ran in the 200m, finishing 4th in another personal best time of 24.73, and had another personal best time in the 400m, finishing in 53.76.

The Bruins will be hosting their next event Saturday, April 18th.
