Cave Junction Man Allegedly Beats Woman with Hatchet

A Cave Junction man is in custody after allegedly assaulting a 60-year-old woman in his care with a hatchet.

According to the Oregon State Police, 27-year-old Keith J. Lindley-Heller allegedly arrived home intoxicated and engaged in an argument with 60-year-old Shirley Sarfaty.

He then, at one point threatened to kill her, obtained a hatchet from another room and hit the woman multiple times in the head.

The 27-year-old man, reportedly the woman’s caretaker, is accused of attempted murder, first-degree assault, and first-degree criminal mistreatment.

The victim was transported to the hospital and is expected to recover.
