Cave Junction Man Dies in Hwy. 199 Crash Wednesday Afternoon

Late Wednesday afternoon, August 10th, emergency personnel from multiple agencies including the Oregon State Police, Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, Rural Metro and Grants Pass Fire were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash on US 199 at about 4:55pm.

Upon arrival preliminary investigation revealed that a southbound Ford 550 pickup operated by 31 year old Robert Clair from Grants Pass, crossed the center line of the highway and struck a northbound Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by, 45 year old Johnny Porter, from Cave Junction. US 199 was closed for about one hour.

Robert Clair was not injured in the crash, however, Johnny Porter was ejected from the motorcycle and was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency personnel.
