Cave Junction Man Kidnapped and Exchanged for Ransom

On Saturday morning, September 5th, the Red Bluff Police Department was provided information regarding an individual who was reportedly kidnapped from out of state. The Victim, only identified as a 30 year old male from Cave Junction, Oregon, was being held for ransom and was being driven to Red Bluff where an exchange for money was to take place.

Officers located the vehicle involved in the kidnapping and a traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and the driver was later identified as 45 year old David Scott from Grants Pass, Oregon.

During the traffic stop, Scott speed away with the officer holding onto the side of the vehicle. The Officer was able to stand on the running boards of the vehicle while Scott drove nearly 50 MPH carrying the officer approximately 400 feet.

Scott swerved multiple times trying to knock the officer from the vehicle. As the vehicle neared Interstate 5, the officer ordered Scott to stop as the officer pointed his service weapon at Scott. Scott stopped his vehicle and after trying to flee on foot, was apprehended and taken into custody.

Officers from the California Highway Patrol, Deputies from the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office, Investigators from The Federal Bureau of Investigation and Tehama County Bureau of Investigation assisted with the incident and subsequent investigation.

During the investigation, it was determined David Scott had exchanged the victim for ransom just as the officers arrived in the area. 30 year old Kristina Queen of Cave Junction was also arrested as she was a passenger in the vehicle and determined to be involved with the kidnapping of the victim from out of state.

The two officers and Scott received minor injuries resulting from this incident.
