As the Brookings Les Schwab ‘Star Student Athlete’ program rolls on, the selections just keep getting better and the measure by which future selections will be compared keeps getting more exclusive. This weeks selection, Cecilia Hilton, was a key component to BHHS Lady Bruin head coach Kyla Siri’s champion Lady Bruin soccer team.

Cecilia Hilton was a stalwart in Coach Siri’s defensive game-plan and was instrumental to the Lady Bruins back to back 3A-5 Far West League championships. “Cecilia’s determination and heart was a gleaming example of how any and every position on a team is important and her leadership was the key to our strong defense.” said head coach Kyla Siri.

Playing on the varsity team both her junior and senior years Hilton positioned at both inside and outside defender, responsible for defending the fast break and holding the offside trap line on the inside as well as defending the speed to the corners when playing the outside defender. She was intricately involved in 14 shut-outs over her two seasons as well as league championships in both of those years.

In addition to her on field accomplishments and her second team All-League defender selection, Cecilia was also on the undefeated Bruin Knowledge Bowl team that qualified for both the Overall High School National Championship in Atlanta, Georgia in 2019, and the Small Schools National Championship in Chicago, Illinois in 2019.

Scholastically Cecilia is in rare air, carrying a 3.9 GPA while taking multiple college and dual credit courses through the Oregon Institute of Technology and SWOCC. Cecilia has been accepted to the Rochester Institute of Technology after receiving their Presidential Scholarship and hopes to be playing club soccer there in the future.

BHHS Lady Bruin soccer coach Kyla Siri told the Wild Coast Compass that “With her toughness, knowledge, and heart, she had a big impact, but it was Cecilia’s leadership that played a pivotal part in our success as a team. “

Congratulations Cecilia, we are confident that you will be successful in any endeavor you should choose to pursue.
