Cooler Temps and Rain Prelude to Heat Wave

I hope you took the time to soak in the rain and cooler temperatures that began yesterday because forecasts are indicating that it’s not going to last much longer. Temperatures are expected to increase late this week into this weekend and all areas are going to heat up big time next week.

This will probably be the hottest weather of the season so far with triple-digit heat likely in the valleys west of the Cascades and in northern California.

According to the National Weather Service, for the most part in the Medford area, heat waves this summer have been non-existent. ‘Officially’, even though it came close earlier in August, there hasn’t been a 100 degree day yet at Medford. So far the only 100 degree reading was on June 11th, in late Spring!

There is growing confidence that high pressure will develop along the West Coast next week and could persist into early September. This could bring the hottest weather of the season so far with 100 degrees or higher possible at times in the valleys west of the Cascades. Records could also be challenged with heat-related impacts.
