COVID-19 Cases Continue to Rise with New 1,517 Daily Record

New confirmed COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Oregon as the state has now steadily climbed for more than 10 straight weeks now with the state averaging 1,249 new confirmed COVID-19 cases per day. Oregon has now tested more than 1,028,100 individuals and now has 70,832 total cases. That is 8,657 more cases and 73 more deaths in the past week which now totals 885.

The six northern counties continue to lead new cases with 5,631 of the past weeks 8,657 new cases, or 65% of all new cases coming from Clackamus, Multnomah, Marion, Umatilla, Washington and Linn Counties. These six counties also account for 70% of the states total deaths with 616 of the states 885 total deaths and 59% of the states weekly death total with 43 of the 73 new deaths in the state.

Jackson county has been a steadily increasing southern Oregon hotspot for new confirmed COVID-19 cases with considerable growth in the past months. For instance, on September 5th, Jackson county had 864 total cases with just 3 deaths. As of November 27th, Jackson county has had a 24% increase with now 3,344 total cases and 28 deaths in the past 12 weeks. Jackson county had averaged 43 new cases per week from April to September and is now averaging 231 new cases per week since September.

Curry County’s latest report Friday, November, 27th, now reports testing 2,864 individuals with 2,731 negative tests, and now has 49 active confirmed cases of COVID-19, 133 total cases and has recorded 2 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

Del Norte County Department of Health and Human Services reported testing 10,398 individuals with 10,085 negative results, 40 new active cases and 313 total confirmed cases reported by Public Health, with no current hospitalizations and 1 death.

Humboldt County to the south of Del Norte County reports 850 total cases, adding 120 new CoVID-19 cases in the past week after testing 43,755 individuals with now 168 active cases, 673 recoveries, 43 hospitalizations, and 9 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic as of Friday, November, 27th.

Coos County to the north, reported testing 11,246 individuals with 10,921 negative tests, adding 50 new cases of COVID-19 in the past week with now 418 total positive cases and 2 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

Josephine County reports testing 18,037 individuals with 17,585 negative results, adding 109 new cases in the past week, 510 total positive cases of COVID-19 and 4 deaths.

Jackson County continues to see significant increases after reporting another 404 new cases of COVID-19 this past week after testing 53,380 individuals with 49,404 negative test results, 3,644 total cases of COVID-19 and 9 new deaths in the past week now totaling 28 deaths as of Friday, November, 27th.
