Crescent City Police Officer Saves Overdose Victim

On January 29th, the Crescdnt City Police Department had their first department training on the use of Narcan (Naloxone). Naloxone was then placed into each of our patrol units so that it was readily available to officers out on patrol.

On February 2nd, Crescent City Police Officer Lopez responded to a call of an overdosed male subject and was able to deploy a dose of Naloxone immediately to the subject upon seeing obvious signs of an overdose.

After seeing little to no effect from the first dose, Officer Lopez then administered a second dose which helped to reverse the effects of the overdose. The subject was then stabilized and transported to Sutter Coast Hospital for further treatment.

Outstanding work by Officer Lopez in putting this training to immediate use.
