Curry County Sheriff’s Office Reports Woman Found in a Holding Cell Deceased Sunday Evening

According to information released Monday, August 22nd, by the Curry County Sheriff’s Office, early Sunday evening, August 21st, an individual who had been brought to the jail by the Gold Beach Police the day prior, Saturday August 20th, had been found deceased in a holding cell at the Curry County Sheriff’s Office.  

34 year old Heather Iverson of Gold Beach, who had been brought to the jail by Gold Beach Police for Disorderly Contact, Criminal Mischief, and Probation detainer the previous day, was discovered by Deputies unresponsive and not breathing in a holding cell at approximately 6:00pm, Sunday evening.  

Upon discovering Iverson unresponsive and not breathing, Deputies contacted Medical and Fire to respond and it was determined that she was deceased for unknown reasons.  

The Sheriff’s Office then contacted the Oregon State Police as per protocol, to conduct the death investigation and two Detectives responded. The Curry County District Attorney was notified and requested an autopsy to be performed once the initial investigation was complete.  

The body of Iverson was released to Redwood Memorial at the authorization of the District Attorney and an  investigation is currently on-going, and no further information will be released until the Oregon State Police complete their investigation.
