Harbor Stabbing Victim Dies from His Injuries

As reported earlier in the week, at 7:15pm, Sunday, June 13th, Curry County Sheriff’s Dispatch received a 911 transfer call from the Brookings Police Department regarding a reported stabbing.

The caller reported that forty-two year old Christopher Phillips of Harbor had been stabbed in the neck by a neighbor. Sheriff’s Deputies responded quickly along with Cal Ore Life Flight Ambulance, arriving within minutes of the call.

Emergency Room doctors and staff were able to stabilize Phillips, and plans were made to have Phillips flown to a hospital in Medford. While Cal Ore Life Flight Ambulance was transporting Phillips to the Crescent City Airport to fly him to Medford, they had to detour to Sutter Coast Hospital due to the deteriorating medical condition of Phillips. While at Sutter Coast, Phillips underwent emergency surgery

On Thursday morning, June 17th, the Curry County Sheriff’s Office was notified that Christopher Phillips passed away at 12:05am due to complications related to the injuries he sustained from stab wounds on Sunday June 13th, after being treated both at the Brookings Emergency Room, then Sutter Coast Hospital prior to being flown to OHSU in Portland on Wednesday June 15th, 2021.

Christopher Phillip’s family have been notified and the Sheriff’s Office expresses our condolences. The Curry County District Attorney has been informed and additional charges against Justin Graziano, who remains in custody, will be forthcoming.
