Hit and Run Seriously Injures Pedestrian

Early Wednesday morning, October 30th, the Illinois Valley Fire District and American Medical Response were dispatched to a traffic crash just after 1:40 am involving a pedestrian on Caves Hwy. 46 near the intersection of Laurel Rd.

A preliminary investigation by Oregon State Police revealed that a black 1999 Mercedes C28 was traveling eastbound when it struck a pedestrian in the roadway. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene prior to the arrival of Illinois Valley Fire and American Medical Response rescue personnel.

The unidentified pedestrian had to be removed from the windshield by 1st responders and then transported by American Medical Response ambulance to the landing zone at Illinois Valley Fire District fire station 2 in Selma. The patient was then transferred to Mercy Flights helicopter and transported to Rogue Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

The Oregon State Police’s investigation is continuing and they ask anyone with information regarding the crash to call OSP by dialing (*OSP) on any cell phone and reference Case #SP19-384956.
