Homicide Suspect considered ‘Armed and Dangerous’, Remains on the Run

Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to an address on Upper Applegate Road in rural Jacksonville after receiving call of a shooting beginning just before 2:30am, Thursday morning, April 20th.

Upon arrival to the location, first arriving deputies discovered the scene was a homicide, and notified Criminal Investigations Division detectives and Medical Examiners.

64 year old Michael Wayne Ray

A primary suspect has been identified by authorities as 64 year old Michael Wayne Ray, of Jacksonville, is described as a white male with blue eyes and grey hair, 5’9” tall, weighing 190 lbs., and as is considered armed and dangerous.

The suspects vehicle was located near the crime scene next to the Applegate dam Thursday afternoon. Jackson County Sheriff’s Office SWAT and K9 teams responded and searched the vehicle and area, but the suspect was not located.

As of early Thursday evening, the suspect remains on the run and considered armed and dangerous. If you see the suspect, do not approach, call 911 immediately.
