Man Arrested in Dutch Brothers Coffee Robbery

On Saturday, December 23rd, Medford Police Detectives arrested 46-year-old Jason Lee Swindler at his residence in the 1300 block of Dakota Avenue. Thanks to tips and high-quality surveillance cameras, detectives were able to link him to the December 18th Dutch Brothers robbery on Summit Avenue.

At the time, authorities are only able to link him one of our 5 recent coffee stand robberies but suspect he is responsible for more.

Swindler was recently released from prison after robbing a bank in Ashland in 2012.

The Sunday night December 3rd Dutch Brothers suspect is still at large as coffee stands continue to be targeted including the Thursday, December 21st robbery of Black Rock Coffee on Biddle Road shortly after 6 p.m.

In the Black Rock Coffee case, the suspect posed as a jogger and continued jogging in place as he demanded money from the clerk. No weapon was seen. He is described as a 6-foot tall white male, slender, wearing a bright orange long sleeve shirt, baggy shorts with black leggings. He was also wearing white tennis shoes, a Christmas hat, and a black fuzzy ski mask.

If you work at, own, or manage a coffee stand, please have a talk with your staff regarding what to do if this happens. And of course, consider a surveillance system, as well as dropping money in the safe early and often.
