Man Arrested for DUI after Hwy. 199 Crash

Just after 7:00pm Sunday evening, August 25th, the Illinois Valley Fire and American Medical Response responded to a single vehicle crash on HWY 199.

A northbound vehicle left the roadway on the northbound side and hit a tree. The driver from Grants Pass was arrested for DUI and transported to Asante Three Rivers Medical Center by Oregon State Police.

Hwy. 199 was closed for approximately 10 Minutes to allow American Medical Response to evaluate the driver. After that alternating single lane traffic was established by Illinois Valley Fire CERT. The HWY was totally reopened after the vehicle was removed.

According to Oregon State Police, the driver, later identified as Wayne Louie Walker, allegedly provided a breath sample of .29%. The legal alcohol limit in Oregon is .08 BAC.
