Motorcycle Crash Takes Mans Life

A man, identified as James Mason Anderson, 58, of Central Point, died at the hospital Tuesday afternoon from injuries he sustained when his motorcycle crashed into the side of a semi-truck. Nobody else was injured.

On March 26, just after 2:15 pm, dispatch received a 911 call reporting the crash on Avenue G. an eastbound motorcycle struck the side of a BioMass One truck and trailer that was crossing Avenue G at a driveway access. The caller told dispatch that the motorcycle had been traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the crash.

The preliminary investigation indicates alcohol impairment and excessive speed by Golden were contributing factors in the crash. Further toxicology tests will be conducted by the medical examiner’s office.

The motorcycle operator was transported by ambulance to Rogue Regional Medical Center where he later died of his injuries. The driver of the semi-truck was uninjured and is cooperating with the investigation.

Members of the multi-agency Special Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) team responded to investigate the crash. Employees with Jackson County Roads assisted with traffic control. A half-mile stretch of Avenue G was closed for approximately three hours during the investigation.

The crash remains under investigation by the Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) team.
