Motorcycle Strikes Deer

On Monday, August 21, just before 2:30 am, Oregon State Police Troopers from the Grants Pass Area Command and emergency personnel were dispatched to a crash involving a motorcycle on Hwy 260 just outside of Grants Pass.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2001 Suzuki Motorcycle, operated by 36-year-old Donald P. Hoak of Grants Pass, was traveling north on Hwy 260. The motorcycle struck a deer, which was in the northbound lane, causing Hoak to lose control of the motorcycle. Hoak was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Oregon State Police was assisted at the scene by the Josephine Rural Metro Fire and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
