Multiple Agencies Work Together to Rescue 3 From Illinois River

Just after 1:00pm Tuesday afternoon, May 26th, the Rural Metro water rescue team was mobilized at the request of the Illinois Valley Fire District to the 6-Mile Recreational Site 8 miles west of Selma on the Illinois River, regarding three people stranded on rocks in a rapid.

The Rural Metro crew assisted Illinois Valley Fire District with “down-stream safety” as Josephine County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted the extraction using ropes and a small catamaran raft.
