ODFW Bans all Recreational and Commercial Crabbing

Because of test results from crab viscera samples collected on February 13th, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife has banned all recreational and commercial crabbing from Cape Blanco to the California Border.

Test results from samples collected on February 13th indicate domoic acid is again elevated in the southern Oregon area.

Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Oregon Dept. of Agriculture are immediately designating the area Cape Blanco to the Oregon/California border (Harvest Areas 50-K and 50-L) as a Biotoxin Management Zone.

As of now the recreational fishery in this area is now closed and testing for domoic acid will continue on approximately a weekly basis to determine if and when the evisceration order can be lifted.
