One Dead and Three Arrested After Medford Police Respond to Reports of Assault

Medford Police Officers were dispatched to reports of a possible assault, with the suspect being armed with a firearm at an apartment near Spring Rd. & Royal Avenue Saturday morning, September 25th, at approximately 11:30am.

Upon arrival, Officers made contact with a suspect, later identified as 20 year old Brycen Scofield, in the backyard of the residence before the suspect ran back inside the home. Scofield was detained without further incident after he was contacted by officers by phone.

The apartment was subsequently searched by officers and found a dead man was found inside. The victim appeared to have suffered homicidal violence, and efforts to conceal the victim and clean up the scene appeared to have been made.

Detectives determined three suspects were involved in the murder, after inviting the victim, identified as 24 year old Aaron Stitt, over earlier in the day to rob him of personal property. Detectives believe the victim was murdered with blunt force objects. Firearms were recovered from the scene.

All three suspects were located and lodged on the same charges of Murder 2nd Degree, Robbery 1st Degree, Abuse of a Corpse 2nd Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Tampering with Evidence.
