Oregon Covid-19 Cases Showing Signs of Slowing

After 2 weeks of record breaking daily COVID-19 cases, Oregon has seen a slow statewide in new cases in the past week. Oregon’s northern counties surrounding Portland now struggling after 55 continuous days of demonstrations, continue to lead the state with new cases as the recent spikes been have been attributed to workplace outbreaks and community spread according to the Oregon Health Authority.

Curry County reported that it now has 4 current cases of COVID-19 while the county has reported testing 920 individuals, with 909 negative tests, 11 total positive cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic as of Friday morning July 24th.

Curry County Public Health received notification from Curry General Hospital late Wednesday night, July 22nd, of one confirmed case of COVID-19. Late Thursday morning, July 23rd, Curry County Public Health received notification from an outside lab, utilized by a local healthcare provider, of an additional confirmed COVID-19 case.

Curry County Public Health is currently working with Del Norte County Public Health, Curry County Emergency Management, Del Norte Office of Emergency Services, and the Pelican Bay Incident Command team to investigate and contact trace those individuals identified through testing conducted last week at Pelican Bay State Prison.

Del Norte County Department of Health and Human Services reported testing 3,417 individuals with 84 confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic, 22 active cases and 62 inactive cases, 2 hospitalizations and 0 deaths in Del Norte County as of Friday morning July 24th.

Humboldt County to the south of Del Norte County reports testing 14,216 individuals with 203 total cases, 33 active cases, up 5 in the last week, 166 recoveries and 4 deaths adding 23 and 17 hospitalizations.

Coos County to the north, reported testing 3,508 individuals with 3,449 negative tests, 76 total positive cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic, 59 positive cases with 17 recoveries and 0 deaths.

Josephine County reports testing 5,897 individuals with 5,835 negative results, 78 total positive cases of COVID-19 of which 47 are recovered cases, and 1 death.

Jackson County went into the week testing 16,535 individuals with 16,322 negative test results, totaling 213 total cases of COVID-19 and 129 recovered cases and 0 deaths as of Friday morning July 24th.
