Oregon State Police Reports Woman Struck and Killed on Hwy. 101 Early Thursday Morning

Emergency personnel including Oregon State Police Troopers, Harbor Fire Department and Cal Ore Life Flight responded to reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle early Thursday morning, August 4th, on Hwy. 101 south of the Chetco River at approximately 5:30am.

Initial investigation into the situation revealed that an adult female pedestrian wearing dark colored clothing, was allegedly struck in the travel lane by a Mazda CX9, operated by 60 year old Benjamin Broderick from Harbor, who was traveling northbound on Hwy. 101.

The adult female pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries. The name of the pedestrian is being withheld pending next of kin notification to family.

Mr. Broderick was uninjured and cooperated with investigators at the scene.
