Oregon State Police Rescue Bald Eagle

On Sunday, June 24, 2018, Oregon State Police Sergeant First Class Hand responded to a report of an injured eagle near Beatty, Oregon.

Sergeant First Class Hand met with a ranch manager and learned the eagle had been seen several times in an alfalfa field and appeared to be injured. The team looked for the eagle and were unable to locate it, but noted that each time it was reportedly seen, it seemed to be getting closer to the ranch manager’s residence.

Later in the day, Sergeant First Class Hand received a text from the ranch manager that the bird had been seen in their yard by the ranch owner.

SFC Hand responded and found the bird to be resting in the shade. Using a coat, Hand was able to capture the eagle. There was no other way to transport the bird other than in the prisoner cage of the patrol car; therefore that is where she rode!

The bird was taken to Badger Run Wildlife Rehab in Keno, Oregon. Preliminary exams suggest the eagle has suffered a dislocated wing.
