Panthers Stung by Hornets

The Panther football team took to the gridiron Friday night after traveling to Camas Valley to match up with a very big Hornets team carrying 5 seniors and coming into the contest with a 1-1 record.

The Panthers struck first in the first half, but the Hornets took control of the game from that point on. The bigger Camas team controlled the line of scrimmage for much of the first half, as the Panthers struggled to stop the Hornet running game.

In the second half of play, the Panthers again put together a sustained drive with successful running and passing plays that got them into the endzone. But again, the Hornets would answer, moving the ball down the field and putting the game out of reach as the second half progressed.

Coach Higgins told the Compass after the game…” A lot of good things happened tonight, and we will continue to keep building on the momentum we gain.” he said. “Keep gaining confidence in this young group day in and day out… Camas Valley is a very good program… Hats off to their team and staff.”

The Panthers will travel to Hidden Valley High School next Saturday to take on a very sound 4-1 Lost River Raider team to close out their regular season.
