Semi-Truck Fire Stops Traffic on Hwy. 199

Just before 4:30pm, late Friday afternoon, multiple agencies including the U.S. Forest Service and the Illinois Valley Fire District at the request of Gasquet Fire, were dispatched to reports of a Semi-Truck fire just west of the Collier Tunnel on U.S. Hwy 199.

First responders arrived to a fully involved cab fire effectively limiting traffic to a single lane on Hwy. 199 for multiple hours.

Illinois Valley Fire crews with crews from Gasquet Fire attacked and extinguished the cab fire as crews identified and put out wildland hot spots that had occurred.

The California Highway Patrol assisted with traffic control, and now injuries were reported at the time.
