Shots Fired at Rogue Mall Sends One to Hospital with Multiple Gunshot Wounds, and No Suspects in Custody

Just after 10:20pm, Saturday evening, April 23rd, Medford Police Officers were dispatched to the Rogue Valley Mall for a report of a disturbance in which shots had reportedly been fired and Officers arrived on scene, multiple vehicles were witnessed fleeing the scene.  

A carnival was taking place in a portion of the mall parking lot, however, the carnival is not part of the investigation. Further investigation revealed that a rival group of primarily juveniles, attending the outdoor carnival, became engaged in a physical altercation that escalated to several shots being fired.  

First responders arrived to a very chaotic scene, and multiple individuals fled the scene prior to police arrival and further investigation revealed multiple spent shell casings located in the parking lot.

Officers conducted a safety check to the east of Bed, Bath and Beyond, locating multiple spent shell casings in the parking lot, while ensuring there weren’t any potential victims needing medical attention.  

One person has been reported to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and a male subject was reportedly dropped off at one of Medford’s local hospitals with multiple gunshot wounds and is expected to recover.

At this time the subject is still being treated for his wounds, and there are currently no suspects in custody.  

Officer immediately began taking statements from multiple witnesses on scene and witnesses have been coming forward with information which has been very helpful and Detectives and other investigative assets have been called in as this case is still under investigation.
