Small Plane Crashes in White City, Killing One

Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputies and personnel from Fire District #3 were called to the scene of a single-engine aircraft crash at a rural White City airport just before 3:00pm Sunday afternoon, June 20th.  

First Responders arriving to the scene reported a small, single-engine Piper Tri-Pacer aircraft had clipped the top of several trees near the Beagle Sky Ranch Airport in White City, Ore. before crashing in the backyard of a White City residence on Jones Road and igniting a small grass fire, which was quickly extinguished by citizens and Oregon Department of Forestry personnel.

The crash took the life of the aircraft’s only occupant and pilot, 80 year old Henry Levin of Medford, Ore. Levin’s next of kin has been notified.

Federal authorities will investigate the crash circumstances. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have been advised of the incident and Federal authorities may release further information at a later time.
