String of Robberies leads to Arrest of 3

On March 24th, 2018, Troopers from the Grants Pass Oregon State Police Office responded to a reported armed robbery which had just occurred at the New Hope Market in Josephine County.

Upon the trooper’s arrival, the suspects had left the area. Detectives from the Oregon State Police Criminal Division responded and assumed the investigation.

While investigating the New Hope Market Robbery, Detectives learned about a similar Armed Robbery, which occurred on March 7th, 2018 at Levi’s Market in Josephine County. Detectives incorporated the March 7th incident into their criminal investigation, which has been ongoing since that time. Additionally, Detectives learned of a Theft of cash from the Williams County Store, which was determined to be related to the other two robberies.

18 year old Kenneth Frankel

18-year-old Kenneth Frankel was arrested and lodged at the Josephine County Jail on March 27th on 2 counts of 1st-degree Robbery, 3 counts of 1st-degree Theft, and Unlawful use of stun gun, tear gas or mace.

18-year-old Daniel Anderson was arrested and lodged at the Josephine County Jail on March 28th on 2 counts of 1st-degree Robbery, 3 counts of 1st-degree Theft, and Unlawful use of stun gun, tear gas or mace.

18-year-old Brendan Shapiro was also arrested and lodged at the Josephine County Jail on Thursday, March 29th on 2 counts of 1st-degree Robbery, 3 counts of 1st-degree Theft, and Unlawful use of stun gun, tear gas or mace.

The Oregon State Police was assisted by the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, The Grants Pass Department of Public Safety and Josephine County District Attorney’s Office.

During the course of the investigation, the Oregon State Police Criminal Division also received several investigative tips from alert citizens, which ultimately assisted in the identification and apprehension of the suspects.
