Three Vehicle Crash Stops Hwy. 101 for Over 3 hours, Sends 2 to the Hospital, Leaving 1 Dead

Multiple agencies including the Oregon State Police, Curry County Sheriff’s Office, Gold Beach Police Department, Gold Beach Fire and Rescue, Pistol River Fire, and Oregon Department of Transportation, responded to reports of a multi-vehicle crash on Hwy-101, near Pistol River, early Thursday evening, August 31st, just before 5:30pm.

Initial investigation suggests that 42 year old Skyanna Marie Goodland of Tillamook was traveling northbound on US-101 near Pistol River when her Subaru Outback crossed the centerline sideswiping a southbound Chrysler Pacifica.

After contacting the Chrysler Pacifica, operated by 50 year old Brookings resident Heather Anne Serna, the Subaru Outback then struck a southbound Hyundai Veloster, driven by 34 year old Brandon Michael Cunliffe Owen of Brookings, head-on. 

42 year old Skyanna Marie Goodland was extricated from her Subaru Outback and transported to a local hospital by ambulance. The driver of the Chrysler Pacifica, 50 year old Brookings resident Heather Anne Serna, was transported to the hospital by private party for minor injuries.  

34 year old Brandon Michael Cunliffe Owen of Brookings, was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

The cause of the crash remains under investigation at this time.
