U.S. Coast Guard Rescues 2 from Rocks after Capsizing Kayaks

On Sunday, April 23rd, crews from  U.S. Coast Guard Station Coos Bay responded to reports of two people in the water, who were thrown from their Kayaks near Sunset State Park.

A 47′ Motor Lifeboat was launched and located the two people on top of wash rocks. With the difficult location and water depth of the rocky shoal, the Motor Lifeboat and local Fire Rescue were unable to safely recover the survivors.

A MH-65 Helicopter launched from Air Station North Bend and was able to successfully hoist both people and transferred them to awaiting Emergency Medical Services.
