Vehicle Leaves Roadway Over Embankment in Remote Crash

Early Monday morning just before 8:00am, rescue crews from Rural Metro Fire and American Medical Response needed nearly an hour to reach a crash site on Bear Camp Road.

For reasons being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office, a shuttle driver for Galice Resort left the roadway on a corner and crashed into trees approximately 75 feet below.

The crash was witnessed by another driver traveling the route to Agness. With no cell service at the crash site, several good Samaritans went for help while some stayed with the injured driver.

Crews were able to retrieve the driver using a rope system and a “stokes” rescue basket, utilizing additional help from deputies and a Bureau of Land Management ranger.

The driver was taken by ground ambulance to the hospital with what appeared to be non life-threatening injuries.
