Wednesday’s Hwy. 101 Crash Severely Injures 2

According to a press release from the Fort Dick Fire Department, just after 2:00pm on Wednesday, September 25th, Fort Dick Fire Department responded with Smith River Fire, CalFire, Harbor Fire Dept, CHP, Del Norte Ambulance, and Cal-Ore Ambulance to a two vehicle major injury head-on collision with multiple patients just north of the Agriculture Station at the California/Oregon border.

Drivers from each vehicle sustained major injuries.

The roadway was completely closed for approximately 30 minutes while patients were removed and transported. One way traffic control was then initiated while crews worked on removing the vehicles.

Traffic on Hwy 101 was impacted for approximately 1 hour while crews worked to clear up the scene.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident.
