Woman and Dog Missing and Feared Drowned after Incident on Rogue River Near Galice

Late Friday afternoon, May 12th, an incident at the park’s boat ramp into the Rogue River at Indian Mary County Park near Galice, has left a woman and her dog missing and feared drowned.

Rescue crews from multiple agencies including Rural Metro Fire, American Medical Response, and marine deputies from the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office initiated a full search and rescue operation upon arrival.

The husband of the missing woman was pulled from the water by a bystander who immediately began CPR with the help of the patient’s son. CPR was continued by emergency personnel upon arrival until pulses were regained and the patient was transported to the hospital in unknown condition.

Firefighters and deputies searched the water from a boat and by “hasty search” on the bank and an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle was also deployed.

Because the cause and circumstance of the accident remains unclear due to lack of witnesses, the search was called off at approximately 8:00pm.
