At about 8:30am Christmas morning, a report of a person being swept off the jetty was received by Del Norte Sheriff’s Office dispatcher Tom Betlejewski. Officer Gill & Sergeant Wilson of the Crescent City Police Department, Deputies Stevens and Morgan of the Del Norte Sheriff’s department, along with YTP Officer Kerr (on training) responded to the scene to get a visual on the subject in the water.

Crescent City Fire and Rescue, Del Norte Ambulance, The Coast Guard, and Boating Safety were also dispatched. Units on scene obtained a visual of the subject in the water between the Jetty and the B St. Pier. The subject was able to cling on to a rock but not able to pull herself back up to the jetty and out of the water.

Sergeant Ortega of the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Boating Safety team was able to reach the subject by Jet Ski and safely deliver her back to the boat ramp. She was transported to Sutter Coast Hospital by ambulance.
