Late Tuesday afternoon, Curry County Sheriff`s dispatch received a 911 call regarding an individual who had fallen approximately 20 feet down onto the rocks near the ocean and could not get back up.
The individual, identified as 23 year old Nikhil Rowland from Beaverton, Oregon, advised authorities that he had fallen approximately 20 feet down onto the rocks near the ocean and could not get back up, stating that he had knocked out his front teeth, was having trouble breathing, and was bleeding.

Rowland advised that his vehicle was parked near mile post 315 on Hwy 101, approximately 13 miles north of Gold Beach, had traveled down a trail to get to his location before falling approximately 20 feet and that first responders would not be able to see him where he had fallen.
Just before 5:00pm, Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the pullout above Frankport and located Rowlands vehicle. Shortly after that, an Oregon State Police Trooper, arrived on scene as well as Cal-Or Life Flight paramedics.

At this time Sheriff`s Office Dispatch was able to determine Rowland`s approximate location by “pinging” his cell phone before the Oregon State Police Trooper and a Cal-Or Paramedic hiked down the trail all the way to the bottom and were able to locate Rowland in a large cave where the Trooper was then was able to lead Rowland out of the cave on his own power, so that the paramedic could then attend to him.

As the State Trooper and Cal-Or paramedic were attending to Rowland, the Curry County Sheriff`s deputy with the assistance of a Search and Rescue member, was able to maneuver his patrol vehicle down the old rutted up roadway to access the bottom area of Frankport.
The Sheriff deputy’s vehicle was then used to transport Rowland, the Cal-Or paramedic, Trooper Workman, and several search and rescue members back to the top of the hill safely before Rowland was transported to Curry General Hospital by Cal-Or ambulance to be treated for his injuries.
