Alcorn Resigns from Brookings City Council and Christy Wurster Appointed City Manager Pro Tem

The Brookings City Council accepted the resignation of Councilor Brad Alcorn, and appointed Isaac Hodges to fill the vacancy.

Alcorn announced his resignation at a special meeting on November 28th, indicating that he would be giving his full-time attention to his upcoming service as Curry County Commissioner.

After declaring the seat vacant, the City Council immediately appointed Isaac Hodges to the City Council to complete Alcorn’s unexpired term through 2024.

Hodges is a life-long resident of Curry County who currently serves as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Experience Officer for Curry Health Network.   Hodges has worked as an acute care nurse, emergency department nurse, and was a private business owner in the health care industry for 12 years. He has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Oregon Health & Science University in 2015.

The Brookings City Council has also appointed Christy Wurster as City Manager Pro Tem effective December 1, 2022.

Wurster will replace retired City Manager Gary Milliman, who has served as City Manager Pro Tem since July.  The action was taken at a special City Council meeting on November 28th, 2022.

Wurster has served previously as City Manager Pro Tem for the cities of Sweet Home and Fairview, and as City Manager for Silverton and Dayton, each for four years.  She also served as Operations and Member Engagement Director for the League of Oregon Cities.

Her education includes a Master of Public Administration from Portland State University and a Bachelor of Science in Business from Western Baptist College (Corban University).

The City Charter provides that a City Manager Pro Tem may serve a maximum term of six consecutive months.
