Azalea Middle School hosted 12 schools including Coffenbury, Coquille, Driftwood, Gold Beach, Harbor Lights, Marshfield, Myrtle Point, North Bend, Reedsport, Siuslaw, Sutherlin, Waldort and Winston in the Far West League District Championships, Wednesday, May 6th.
6th grader, Claire Roberts, clearing 3′-10″ in the high jump.
8th grader, Marcus Devereaux finished sixth in the Discus with a Personal Best throw of 106′-9″, finished seventh in the 400m in101.43, ninth in the shot-put with a throw of 33′-7″, and was also part of the4x400m relayteam that finished 1st in a Personal Best time of 4:04.99.
7th grader Jocelyn Bateman handing off to 8th grader Amity Anderson in the 4x100m Relay on their way to a fifth place finish with a time of 57.28.
8th grader Curren Christensen on his way to a third place finish in the 400m in a Personal Best time of 57.87. He also finished fifth in the 200m in another Personal Best time of 26.00, was part first place 4x400m Relay team and finished fifth in the Long Jump with a personal best leap of 17′-4.5″.
8th grader, Leila Newman, with a substantial 18 second lead on her way to first place in the 1500m in a Season Best time of 5:07.63. She also finished first in the 800m in a time of 2:37.46 and fourth in the 400m in another Season Best time of 1:05.63.
7th grader, Maxililiano Olvera-Salazar, finishing the 100m in 13.40, and finished twelfth in the Long-Jump with a leap 15′-17″.
8th grader and Paisley McVay and 7th grader Piper Anderson in the 1500m finished ninth and tenth respectively with McVay finishing in a Personal Best time of 6:06.74 and Anderson also finishing in a Personal Best time of 6:08.44.
8th grader, Karter Walker, on his way to a 10th place finish in a Personal Best time of 1:02.58.
7th grader, Jocelyn Bateman, on her way to finish the100m in 15.18.
8th grader Tyler Camp, on his way to first place in the 100m Hurdles in a Personal Best time of 14.53. Camp also took first place in the 200m Hurdles with another Personal Best 26.49 time. He was also part of the first play 4x400m relay team and finished seventhin the High-Jump clearing 4′-10″.
7th grader, Katie Chapman, on her way to finishing the 400m in a Personal Best time of 1:11.60. She also ran the 200m finishing in 31.59 and finished seventh in the Javelin with a Personal Best throw of 78′-11″.
6th grader, Fischer Clarke, finished twelfth in the 1500m in 5:28.92, and thirteenth in the 800m in a time of 2:45.81.
8th grader, Beckham Katavich, clearing 4′-4″ in the High-Jump, also finished fifth in the 200m in a Personal Best 31.21, and placed third in the 100m Hurdles in another Personal Best time of 17.41.
The Azalea Boys finished strong, taking third place overall, scoring 69 total team points. The Azalea girls finished seventh, finishing with 42 total team points.
