The latest installment of the Barron’s Home Furnishings ‘Star Student Athlete’ has been selected as winter sports programs preparing for the 2022 post season. Student athletes are selected by their coach’s for their outstanding efforts in the sports arena, as well as their exemplary scholastic and community participation.
This selection is another excellent example for future selections, excelling in all aspects of the ‘Star Student Athlete’ program showing leadership, competitiveness, and work ethic while balancing a 4.0 GPA.
Bruin girls varsity track coach Jason Fulton selected senior Skylar Gallagher for her consistent hard work, both during practices as well her determination during track meets. “She is always one of the last athletes to leave the track…” coach Fulton said, “making her one of the teams senior leaders.”
Skylar competes in the 4×100 relay, 200m, the high jump, long jump and the triple jump, and has been in the top 5 in competition through out the season. Skylar also is a three sport athlete for the Bruin girls, competing in Volleyball, Basketball, and Track, as well as being involved with the school band and the school choral group, ‘Sea Breeze’.
Skylar currently carries college prep courses and has intentions of attending Lane Community College after high school, majoring in English, carrying over to becoming a teacher. “As a coach, I have enjoyed watching her grow over the years, she is a special person, and we have been lucky to have her on our team” coach Fulton said.
