BHHS Track Continues Winning at McKinleyville Relays

Brookings-Harbor High School continued their 2022 season at the Mckinleyville Relays Saturday, March 19th, taking part in a unique format featuring relays in multiple disciplines.

In the boys 400m hurdles, the Brookings-Harbor team of Devan Downing, Kyan Myers,Mark Peterson, and Garren Ramirez took first place honors after running the relay in 38:31, finishing over a full second faster than the 2nd place finishing Mckinleyville.

The boys continued to place high, finishing 3rd in the 4x100m relay with a team of Tanner Anderson-Nelson, Jake Beaman, Uriel Cortez, and Miguel Ramos, in which the top three teams finished within ten one hundredths of a second.

Destini Robb-Parke

In Bruin girls 4x100m, the team of Jaiden Babb, Skylar Gallagher, Spensyr Gotfried, Megan Pearson finished tenth in a strong field, finishing in a time of 58.89.

In the 4x200m, the boys team of Jake Beaman, Tanner Anderson-Nelson, Miguel Ramos, Uriel Cortez took 2nd place, finishing behind Eureka by 8 tenths of second, with a time of 1:39.93.

For the girls, the team of Jaiden Babb, Skylar Gallagher, Destini Robb-Parke, Grace Ferraccioli finished 12th in a respectable time of 2:12.43 in the 4x200m.

The team of Jaiden Babb, Mackenzie Stutchman, Annika Malmberg, Michaela Stutchman finished 5th in the grueling 4x800m relay in a time of 12:54.72.

For the boys in the 4x800m, Colby Anderson-Nelson, Jake Beaman, Devan Downing, Tanner Anderson-Nelson finished 1:00 minute behind the winning time of 9:08.9, in 4th place with a time of 10:08.7.

The boys 4xMile relay, the Bruin boys team of Luke Christensen, Zoelyn Collins, Ty Morris, Seamus Tayman finished just 4 tenths of a second behind Eureka for 2nd place in a time of 56:92.

Annika Malmberg

In the Swedish 100-200-300-400m relay, a unique relay consisting of teams running a 100m, 200m, 300m finished off with a 1/4 mile 400m, the team of Megan Pearson, Mackenzie Stutchman, Michaela Stutchman, Annika Malmberg took 9th place in a time of 3:00.59.

For the boys, the Swedish relay was yet another outstanding 1st place finish, finishing almost a whole second in front of the competition in 2:12.06.

Jaevon Cooper

The team of Jaevon Cooper, Colby Anderson-Nelson, Wyatt Harlan, David Sheffel took 9th place in the 1200-400-800-1600m relay.

Only the Brookings girls participated in the 4×100 Shuttle Hurdles, with the team of Megan Pearson, Destini Robb-Parke, Eden Van Maren, and Kenzie Wentz finished a strong 5th, in a time of 40:15.

In individual events, Wyatt Harlan, finished 15 seconds off the pace in the 3200m with a time of 11:47. Zoelyn Collins placed 5th in the discus for the boys with a throw of 98′-8.50″, and Sarah Fulton finished 6th, throwing the discus 69′-10″ and 11th in the shot-put with a throw of 22′-11″. Skylar Gallagher, placed 7th in the girls high-jump, clearing 4′-0″, and then finished 3rd in the Long-Jump, leaping 14′-11″ and Megan Pearson finished 8th, with a jump of 13′-9″.
