Bruin Boys and Girls Track Take First Place at the BHHS Twilight Meet

On Wednesday, May 13th, head coach Jason Fulton and the Bruin boys and girls track team hosted four teams including Rogue River, Illinois Valley, Gold Beach and North Douglas for the BHHS Twilight Meet.

Senior, Patrick Hatch, claimed fifth place in the12lb Shot-Put with measurement of 41′-7″. He also placed second in the Discus reaching 120′-6″, and also finished second in the Javelin with a throw of 144′-7″.
Sophomore, Kaiya Evans, on her way to a first placed finish in the 200m, with a time of 26.80. Evans also finished first in the 100m in 12.95 as well as a first place finish in the 4x400m relay with Oceana Powers-Schmitz, Morgan Ferris, and Johanna Larson with a time of 4:42.32.
(L/R) Senior, Owen Strasser, finished second in the 1500m in a personal best 5:02.28, second in the 3000m in 11:24.90 and seventh in the 400m, with a time of 1:07.69. Freshman Joshua Martyn, would take first place in the 3000m in a personal best time of 11:11.88 and fourth in the 1500m in a personal best time of 5:09.79. Freshman, Austin Hatch, finished third in the 3000m in a personal best time of 12:32.61 as well as 6th in the 1500m in another personal best time of 5:44.69.
Junior, Kendall Slater, on her way to a sixth place finish in the 100m in a personal best time of 14.68. She also finished third in the Long Jump, leaping 14′-.05″ and claimed first place in the Triple Jump, jumping 29′-6.75″. Sophomore Violette Desavedo-Martin, finished seventh in the 100m in 14.87, and finished sixth in the 200m in 31.36,
Junior, Owen Austin, would finish second in the 300m hurdles in 46.72 and finish eighth in the 100m in a personal best time of 12.05.
Senior, Johanna Larson, jumping into a first place finish in the High Jump, clearing 4′-2″. She also placed first in the 400m in 1:02.98 and finished first in the 4x400m relay with Kaiya Evans, Oceana Powers-Schmitz, and Morgan Ferris.
Sophomore, Evan York, would finish fourth in the 100m in a personal best time of 11.91, first in the 200m in another personal best time of 23.90, first in the 400m in a time of 55.76 and also finished in third place on the 4x400m relay with Zander Carlson,Sebastian Olvera, Jare Velasco- Ramos, and Evan York
Junior, Cambria Whitted, would finish fourth in the 300m Hurdles in a season best time of 1:02.40 and would finish in seventh in the 100m Hurdles in a personal best time of 20.73.
Senior, Zander Carlson, on his way to a third place finish in the 400m in 57.24, a twelfth place finish in the Shot Put in 29′-9.5″, 11th in the Discus in 83′-7″ and a thirteenth place finish in the Javelin, throwing a personal best throw of 80′-7″.
Freshman, Erika Hall, out of the blocks on her way to a tenth place finish in the 200m in a personal best time of 32.79. She also finished fourth in the 400m, in another personal best time of 1:10.80 as well as 5th in the Shot-Put with a personal best throw of 26′-1″, and, finished eighth in the Discus, throwing 71′-10″.
Sophomore, Sequoia Merten, on her way to a first place finish in the 300m Hurdles in a personal best time of 52.68. She would also finish third in the 100m in 14.16, and fourth in the Long Jump with a leap of 13′-5.25″.

Both the Bruin boys and Bruin girls varsity track teams took first place honors in the BHHS Twilight Meet, May 13th, with the boys earning 118 total team points after 17 events, and the Bruin girls earning 104 total team points after 16 events completed.
