Woman Rescued After Bring Abandoned in Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area

According to a Friday evening Coos County press release, the Coos County Sheriff, and the Coos County Dispatched coordinated to pinpoint the location of a woman stranded in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area.

The woman, with only an emergency “911-only” cell phone, contacted the North Coos Dispatch Center reporting that she had been abandoned overnight by an acquaintance. 

The woman was successfully rescued after Deputies from the Coos County Sheriff’s Office coordinated with the North Coos Dispatch Center to pinpoint her exact GPS coordinates at approximately 10:10am after surviving approximately 14 hours without food or water.

Coos County Sheriff’s deputies safely guided her off the sand, and provided her necessary food and water.
