Bruin Boys Handle Bandon in Monday Afternoon Match-Up

Junior right-hander, Austin Dietrich, #13, went 6 innings, allowed only 4 hits and struck-out 9.

Head coach Keith Wallin and his 7-4 varsity baseball team hosted the Bandon Tigers, undefeated in their league play, in a non-league tune-up match Monday afternoon at Brookings-Harbor High School.

Coach Walling would send sophomore right-hander, #13, Austin Dietrich to the mound for the Bruins, shutting down the Tiger offense in order, however, the Bruin boys would fail to capitalize going 1, 2, 3, themselves to end the first.

Junior infielder, Blake Delaney making the play at 3rd.

Dietrich would see five batters in the second, striking out 3, again holding the Tigers scoreless. With another opportunity to take a lead the Bruin boys would work a runner around the bases to score the first run of the game.

Ethan Orman, #22, holding the runner on 1st.

The Tigers would go down in order in the third, with Dietrich, striking out 2 in the top of the third and again the Bruins would score no runs in their half of the inning.

Senior shortstop, Seth Valliere, #15, applying the tag to get the base stealer.

In the fourth, after holding the Tigers scoreless in their half of the inning, the Bruin bats would wake up,  sending 7 runners across the plate in the inning.

Sophomore Talan Pryor, #2, making the throw from 2nd base.

Both teams would battle to a tie in the fifth, before Bandon would get four base runners to score, adding 4 runs late Monday. The Bruin boys would answer the late inning challenge, adding 3 insurance runs themselves, to secure the 9-3 win.

The Bruin boys will be on the road this Saturday, challenging the 5-7 Honkers in Lakeview with the first pitch scheduled for 1:00pm, Saturday.
