Bruin Boys take 1st and Lady Bruins take 3rd in IceBreaker Track meet

On Tuesday, March 19th, Brookings-Harbor High School hosted the Brookings-Harbor IceBreaker Track meet.

Under cloudy skies and comfortable temperatures, ten schools participated and the Bruins showed their strengths placing first in six events. The Bruins also placed in
the top ten in over 20 events, on their way to the boys winning the meet 145 to Del Norte’s 138. The Girls took 3rd overall.

Andrew Enos also placed 9th in the 200m and Aiden Strahm also finished 3rd in the long jump jumping 18-01.

Jake Beaman, on his way to 3rd place in the 400m. He also took 4th in the 800m moments later as well as 1st with his 4x400m relay team.

Mickey Fulton finished 3rd and Alonna Nalls finished 7th in the 200m.

Kaleb Barnes, Zachary Abblitt and Everest Abblitt finished 1st, 2nd and 4th respectfully in a dominating performance in the 1500m. Zachary Abblitt, Everest Abblitt and Aiden Zellmer repeated that incredible run with the three placing 1st, 3rd, and 4th respectively in the gruelling 3000m late in the day. Maleah Harlan placed 3rd for the girls in 3000m.

Freshman Megan Pearson out of the blocks strong and on her to 5th place in the girls 110m.

Kyan Meyers took first place in the 300m hurdles and Megan Pearson also placed 3rd in the ladies 300m hurdles for the Lady Bruins.

Christian Steendahl, Cody Lee, Jake Beaman, Kaleb Barnes took 1st place in the prestigious 4x400m relay.

Junior Alonna Nalls took first place in the Ladies long jump with a leap of 14-06.50. Nalls also finished 7th in the 200m.

In the Shot Put it was Josh Smith taking 4th for the boys, while Chloe McCrae also place 4th for the Ladies.

Chloe McCrae also went on to place 2nd in the discus and put up a 1st place in the ladies javelin.

Josh Smith threw the javelin 143-07 for the boys securing a 2nd place in the event.
Mickey Fulton vaulted 8-06 on her way to a 2nd place finish.

Mickey Fulton played a big part in the Lady Bruins third place team finish with a 3rd place finish in the 200m, a 2nd place finish in high-jump and another 2nd place finish in the pole vault.

Christian Steendahl vaulted 9-00 to finish in 4th.
